Missouri Raises Speed Limits to 75 MPH

Speed limits are going up on some Missouri highways.

On October 21, 2026, the Missouri Department of Transportation announced plans to raise speed limits from 70 to 75 mph on eight sections of four interstate highways.

The changes affect parts of I-29, I-35, I-49, and I-55.

A new state law allowing higher speed limits took effect on August 28, 2026.

MoDOT reviewed traffic, truck volumes, crash records, and road conditions before choosing the locations.

Crews will install new speed limit signs this fall. Until then, the current posted limits remain in effect.

### What This Means for CDL Drivers

Truck drivers traveling through Missouri may see higher speed limits on certain interstate sections.

But the change does not apply everywhere. Follow the posted signs.
